Andrew Lakey, a senior at Suncoast Polytechnic School, and founder of Music Heals Us, is very excited about this event stating, “I love seeing teenagers get inspired and striving to help others! I can't wait for the fundraiser.” Right now the team, comprised of local high school students, is asking that everyone please save the date for the event. It will be held January 26th from 6-9 pm, at Music Compound. The band line-up will consist of local youth musicians, including the Trey Wanvig Band. There were several different factors taking place that allowed for this event to come together. Trey Wanvig’s band wanted to give back to the community and host a concert that funded music programs. Jenny Alday Townsend, the owner of Music Compound, serves as a mentor to Grace Kim via the Boys and Girls PYE Program. Grace Kim aspires to develop an organization that provides funding for music programs. Jenny was connected to Andrew via SRQ magazine and the Community Foundation of Sarasota. Jenny notes that this event aligns perfectly with the goals of her business Music Compound. “At Music Compound our motto is to Inspire, Collaborate, and Educate. This event is allowing us to do just that, Inspire our community, collaborate with local youth volunteers and businesses, and I am honored to help educate these students about event planning and community involvement."
