[SARASOTA, Fla. December 21, 2017] – The Sarasota YMCA/Safe Children Coalition (SCC) is excited to announce that 1,266 foster care children will have a happy holiday because of generous donors. SCC reaches out to donors in early December asking to fill wish lists for children ages 0-17. Through the fulfilment of those lists, toy drives hosted by 107.9 WSRZ Jones & Company radio station and other organizations, children in three counties get to enjoy holiday gifts. The Y hosts a holiday party for the foster care children and their foster parents. This year, the theme was from the Disney movie, Moana, where guests enjoyed a Christmas Luau with fun activities such as a bounce house, balloon maker, music, a hula dancer (who provided dance lessons), and Santa himself handing out gifts. Food was provided by MouthHole BBQ. “We love hosting a party for the kids and their foster parents every year,” said Brena Slater, Vice President of the Safe Children Coalition. “It’s heartwarming to see all the kids playing and enjoying the festivities.” To learn more about the Sarasota YMCA Foster Angel program visit www.sarasotaymca.org/angels. ### About The Safe Children Coalition: With offices in Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto Counties, the Safe Children Coalition serves abused and neglected children through a contract with the Department of Children and Families.
