Sarasota is such a beautiful part of the world, and SO many private gardens are spectacular! ”Gardens in Paradise” is a unique opportunity to visit extraordinary private gardens tended by passionate gardeners. Each garden is lovingly chosen to show diversity immersed in the creativity, grandeur and passion that is gardening in Sarasota. Whether a secret garden behind a wall, a native meadow open to coastal water, or a courtyard plot in the urban landscape, you become inspired to create your own personal paradise! Agenda: Friday March 16 – Check this website for garden addresses, map and locations to begin your tour the next day. Saturday March 17 – Gardens in Paradise Tour – 10am to 4pm. Programs and wristbands will be available for pick up beginning at 8:30am at Sarasota Garden Club 1131 Boulevard of the Arts, Sarasota, FL, 34236. You may also go directly to any garden to pick up your wristband & guide. Plan for and buy tickets for Lunch in the Garden –11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Sarasota Garden Club hosts a lunch! Tour the 14 Botanical Gardens in the heart of downtown Sarasota. $15. Call Events for questions 941-524-3749 or the club on the day of 941-944-0875. Come see five fabulous gardens chosen by Sarasota Garden Club scouts & experts. Excitement this year comes in the form of attractions and plusses at each home’s garden! At the first home: The owner is a botanical illustrator and will be showing her illustrations in the gardens. At the next home: The owner is a Master Gardener with a Florida Friendly garden staffed by Master Gardeners highlighting a Florida-Friendly booth, literature, explanation of the garden and garden plan. At the third home: A new Allegra Model home staged and landscaped and open for our tour. We will have Trace Altman from Altman Landscape holding a workshop from 2pm to 2:30pm “Melding Old Canopy Trees with new landscape” and a "walk and talk" around the property. Refreshments served! At the fourth home: Cottage property with Birds of Paradise - the actual avian kind! Tropical bird display in the afternoon and an orchid talk and potting demonstration in the morning in a curtained potting shed. And at the fifth: Built in 1914 and on the antique registry.
