SARASOTA, September 14, 2018 – The Plymouth Harbor Foundation on Sarasota Bay awarded 16 scholarships to employees and children of employees. The Plymouth Harbor Foundation is able to award scholarships annually thanks to more than 100 donors who have made gifts in support of this program. The scholarships range in amount from $1,300 to $2,000. 2018 scholarship recipients: Fernando Limon received the Bea Davis Scholarship. He is enrolled in the State College of Florida’s nursing program. Allison Nahrwold received the Jane T. Smiley Scholarship and will be attending the University of South Florida with plans to major in marketing and minor in apparel merchandising. Hayden Menzies received the Jeanette Gehrie Music Scholarship and is taking trombone and saxophone lessons at Sam Ash Music in Sarasota. Krystle Harvey received the Evelin Corsey Scholarship. She is earning a certificate in professional and technical communications at USF Sarasota-Manatee. Gisel Sanchez Jimenez received the Charleen Sessions Scholarship. She is attending Keiser University to earn a degree in medical assisting. Luis Santiago received the Collinsworth Scholarship. He is in earning a bachelor’s degree in information technology with a concentration in systems administration. Claudia Cavero received the Gaylord Nursing Scholarship. She is enrolled in the nursing program at Rasmussen College and plans to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in nursing in the future. Melissa Berthold received the Residents Association Scholarship. She is enrolled in the dental hygiene program at the State College of Florida and plans to graduate in 2021. Nathan Stotler received a Foundation Scholarship. He currently studies communications at the State College of Florida. Jessica Taylor received a Foundation Scholarship. She is in the pharmacy program at the State College of Florida and plans to become a pharmacy technician. Dayle Cortes received a Foundation Scholarship. He is earning a degree in marketing at the University of Florida and is also a student in their Innovation Academy. Vernicia Crenshaw received a Foundation Scholarship. She is a student at Meridian College studying to become a diagnostic medical ultrasound technician. Devin Vancil received a Foundation Scholarship to take private violin lessons at the Allegro Music Academy. Yaima Comas received a Foundation Scholarship. She is majoring in international business and trade at the State College of Florida. Lillian Aravena-Rodriguez received a Foundation Scholarship. She is studying nursing at Manatee Technical College. Waverly Tanner received a Foundation Scholarship. She graduated from Pine View School and now is in her first semester at the University of South Florida studying business administration. The Plymouth Harbor Foundation was established in 2012 to ensure the appropriate stewardship of contributed funds, develop fundraising strategies and provide innovative aging services.
