SARASOTA, Fla. (October 2, 2018) – Big Cat Habitat & Gulf Coast Sanctuary will be able to implement another avenue to fund Habitat improvements and provide care for its more than 150 resident animals thanks to Margin and Mission Ignition 2018. Margin and Mission Ignition is an initiative of The Patterson Foundation designed to strengthen entrepreneurial capacity and increase nonprofit mission impact through the development and implementation of earned-income strategies. Big Cat Habitat, one of five regional organizations selected for Margin and Mission Ignition, will receive help to boost its capabilities to host larger scale corporate and family events by participating in the 30-month consulting process with No Margin, No Mission, a social enterprise and national consulting firm engaged by The Patterson Foundation. No Margin, No Mission will work with the nonprofits to develop and implement business plans for revenue-generating ventures. “We’ve grown significantly as an attraction over the years, and are deeply grateful for being selected for this initiative, which will help us take our care for the animals and our educational mission to a new level,” said Kay Rosaire, founder of Big Cat Habitat. “Our primary source of funding to support the animals has been through admission fees and individual donations. Upgrading our facility to accommodate larger groups for events will provide much-needed added revenue for our planned animal clinic, education center and expanded habitats.”?Organizations participating in Margin and Mission Ignition will come together throughout the process to learn from and share with one another based on their experiences. “Margin and Mission Ignition has served as a platform for nonprofits to learn and take the evolutionary steps necessary to become thrivable, sustainable organizations with greater impact in our region,” said Debra Jacobs, president and CEO of The Patterson Foundation. “The leadership, willingness, readiness, capacity and culture demonstrated by this cohort will facilitate their efforts to strengthen their entrepreneurial capacity over this 30-month process.” For more information about The Patterson Foundation’s Margin and Mission Ignition 2018 initiative, please visit thepattersonfoundation.org.
