All Faiths Food Bank Receives $170,000 in grants in support of programs that provide children, families, seniors and veterans with nutritious food Sarasota, FL – All Faiths Food Bank recently received grants from the following organizations: $105,000 from The Stone Foundation in support of the Backpack, Mobile Farm Market and Veteran Programs $25,000 from the Norm Skalicky Foundation in support of all programs $20,000 from the Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation in support of the Backpack Program $20,000 from the Harry Sudakoff Foundation in support of the Mobile Pantry Program The grants will help provide, children, families, seniors, veterans and those in crisis with nutritious food throughout Sarasota and DeSoto counties. WHAT: In support of Backpacks, which provide students with nutritious snacks over the weekend and holidays, School Pantries which provide fresh produce, meats and groceries to families at schools, Mobile Farm Markets which distribute fresh produce in our community, the Mobile Pantry Program (including our Veterans Pantry every second and fourth Tuesday of the month) which provides access to fresh produce, meats and groceries to those in need, and Nutrition Education programs. HOW MUCH: $170,000 About All Faiths Food Bank All Faiths Food Bank, awarded a consecutive 4-star rating by Charity Navigator, is a member of Feeding America, the hub of hunger relief in Sarasota and DeSoto counties and serves more than 82,000 individuals in need through its member network that includes human services organizations, schools, faith-based and secular organizations, and other groups that serve the community. Programs include the Mobile Farm Market, which brings fresh produce to clients, Mobile Pantries, which delivers groceries to areas of highest need, the BackPack Program, ensuring students have food over weekends and holidays, School Pantries, the Campaign Against Summer Hunger, raising food and funds to feed children all summer long, and Cooking Matters, a six-week series of hands-on cooking, shopping and nutrition education classes for kids, adults and seniors. Last year, All Faiths Food Bank distributed 10.5 million pounds of food equating to 8.75 million meals through 203 pantries, soup kitchens, churches, community centers, schools, and programs.
