Detert, Sarasota County Commissioner District 3 and former Florida State senator, has been named as the Honorary Chairperson of The Loveland Center Golf Tournament at The Founders Club in Sarasota, Fla. The Loveland Fundraiser Golf Tournament being held on March 11, 2019 benefits programs and services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the Loveland Center in Sarasota County. Proceeds from this tournament aim to ensure that Loveland participants, regardless of their ability, have the opportunity to acquire much needed life skills, be engaged citizens, and give back to their community. “Loveland’s mission has been supported by many in our community, and counting on Sen. Detert as honorary chairperson of this golf tournament will allow greater visibility for Loveland’s cause—I am thrilled to know that our local government understands the importance of helping individuals with disabilities,” said Patrick Guerin III, Loveland CEO and president. Detert has been an advocate for better access to disability services and employment opportunities throughout Florida for those in need.
