Sarasota Contemporary Dance (SCD) is a professional dance company bringing cutting edge dance of the highest caliber through performances, education programs, and innovative collaborations to Sarasota Florida and beyond. Serving our artistic community for more than 17 years, SCD is housed in the heart of the historic Rosemary Square district in downtown Sarasota. SCD shares its home studio with the community through robust artistic, educational, and performance programming: 16 in-studio performances are planned for SCD’s 2024-2025 season. All held in SCD's 1,000+ square foot, state-of-the-art studio/black box performance venue. Hailed as the training ground for contemporary dance in our region, with three pre-professional summer dance intensives, winter and spring workshops, 16 ongoing dance classes weekly and a home for SCDE, Sarasota Contemporary Dance Ensemble, a training company for aspiring dancers. Sarasota Contemporary Dance was formed in 2002 as Fuzión Dance Artists, Sarasota’s first contemporary dance company, by Co-Founders Leymis Bolaños Wilmott and Rachael Inman. Now entering its 19th season, the company was renamed in 2015 and continues to bring dance to the community through eclectic performances and educational programming, while collaborating with artists and community groups to enrich the human experience.
