Recipients are pre-registered and vetted. Those in need may receive non-perishables, baked goods, meat, fresh produce from the SCLO garden, or a hot meal. Clients may receive diapers once a month and supplies such as wipes, formula, and baby food twice a month. Recipients are pre-registered and vetted. Pieces of Me Women and girls empowerment classes, in person or via Zoom, Thursdays, 4-6 PM, followed by art or sewing projects. Participants are encouraged to keep a journal. Learning a mantra called “I Am That I Am,” individuals are taught theoretical and practical ways of creating a new beginning for themselves. They begin to build self-confidence, as well as learn how to reduce stress and repair the brokenness that they have encountered in their past and present situations, such as coping with unhealthy relationships, experiencing incarceration, and losing a loved one.
