The food drive provides locals with an easy way to help neighbors in need Contact Name: Elodie McCartney Ward Contact Email: emccartney@allfaithsfoodbank.org Contact Phone Number: 941-281-5866 WHAT: Each year, the NALC’s Stamp Out Hunger National Food drive occurs on the second Saturday in May, benefiting local food banks. The food drive is the country’s largest single-day food drive, providing residents with an easy way to donate food to their neighbors in need. The food drive will be held in 10,000 cities and towns in all 50 states, the District of Colombia, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Guam. This year, on May 11, as they deliver mail, the nation’s letter carriers will collect the donations residents leave near their mail boxes. Before the regular mail delivery on Saturday, people are encouraged to leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable food next to their mailbox. On the day, All Faiths Food Bank staff and volunteers will be based at different drop off locations ready to load trucks that will take donations back to the food bank. At the food bank, additional volunteers and staff will sort and arrange food in the warehouse to help prepare for distribution. The media are encouraged to attend. RSVPs are recommended through the contact below.
