In Sarasota, the project benefitted Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization with a mission to build safe, affordable and energy-efficient homes for families. Approximately 15 Weekley team members from the company’s Sarasota division volunteered more than 120 hours to prime houses and clear out debris. “Our construction team put the David Weekley Homes team to work building affordable homes for families in Sarasota,” said Danny Bilyeu, construction manager with Habitat for Humanity. “Thank you to David Weekley Homes for supporting Lives Transformed: The Campaign for Hammock Place. Together, we build!” This project helped provide six families with an affordable place to live. The project included donations of more than $7,000 in materials and tools. “It was a memorable experience, and we are grateful to have been given the opportunity to partner with Habitat for Humanity for such a great cause,” said Rocco Pennella, builder with David Weekley Homes. The project was an initiative of the company’s CARE program, which is a charitable and volunteer program that partners team members, homeowners, homebuyers and community partners with nonprofits to make a positive impact in the lives of everyone it touches and in all the communities it builds through its purpose, Building Dreams, Enhancing Lives. This is accomplished by company team members volunteering countless hours to different organizations in their communities and by The David Weekley Family Foundation donating more than $200 million to a variety of organizations through the U.S. and abroad over the past 20 years.
