Amore Restaurant Italian & Portuguese Cuisine A couple, born in Portugal, has introduced a new Portuguese/Italian cuisine at Amore Restaurant. The Cataplana is authentic and classic Portuguese food rich in meats and fish and served in typical copper cookware. Liana and Tito Vitorino are no strangers to the Sarasota restaurant scene, having managed the immensely successful continental restaurant of the same name for several years. Their dream of owning their own restaurant has been realized, and Amore has infused their traditional continental menu with nine classic Portuguese dishes. The first Portuguese-Italian restaurant located in walking distance in the heart of the historic Sarasota is opened six days a week and features live music every evening. Happy Hour is 4:30 pm – 6:30. In addition to a 12-stool bar area in a European dining atmosphere, there are indoor/outdoor dining, including private rooms up to 36 guests. Cataplana, a type of Portuguese classic copper cookware steam-cooks all ingredients and is only opened on the table to guests when ready to serve. Different types of Cataplanas are served such as à Alentejana, de Marisco, and de Carne. Bacalhau, a beloved salted codfish can’t be missed. Three of the most popular Bacalhau, will be served: Lagareiro, à Brás, and à Gomes de Sá styles. Chouricos and sausage, like Linguica, Alheira, Farinheira, and Mouro are features adding gourmet flavors to pork loins and chicken breast dishes. All these sumptuous gourmet dishes are coupled with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, tastefully decorated to reflect an “old world” European charm. Amore occupies an architecturally stunning building on the corner of Burns Court and Pineapple in the popular Historic District in Sarasota. The restaurant itself is casual, as you enter the restaurant, the semi-open-air front dining room with large ceiling fans and comfortable seating is near the spacious bar area that has ample stools for seating. Further inside, a small staircase leads to an intimate and elegant dining room that is known as “The Madonna Room” and can be rented for private parties. To the rear of the restaurant on the ground level is a casual and pleasant dining room with a ceiling of grapevines that mimic the look and feel of Italy and Portugal.
