HEAD OVER HEELS MAKES ITS AREA DEBUT AT THE PLAYERS CENTRE FOR PERFORMING ARTS Contact Name: Amanda Heisey Contact Email: amandah@theplayers.org Contact Phone Number: 9413652494 Sarasota, FL – Feb. 7, 2020– From Feb. 19 through March 8, 2020 the enthusiastic musical, Head Over Heels will make its area premiere at The Players Centre for Performing Arts. This laugh-out-loud love story is based on Philip Sidney’s The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia and set to the music of the iconic 1980’s all-female rock band The Go-Go’s. The show includes their hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” Head Over Heels has the perfect combination of comedy, romance, and pop rock hits that will make you want to jump up and dance! Story: A hilarious, exuberant celebration of love, Head Over Heels follows the escapades of a royal family on an outrageous journey to save their beloved kingdom from extinction—only to discover the key to their realm’s survival lies within each of their own hearts. What happens when the royal court of Arcadia is threatened by the mystical Oracle of Delphi with the loss of its “Beat,” the divine power that ensures the kingdom’s prosperity? King Basilius, whose own title is at stake, forces the members of the royal family and court on a journey to the woods in an attempt to escape the Oracle’s seemingly unavoidable prophecies. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels preaches unconditional love and acceptance of yourself and everyone you know, no matter their gender or sexual identity, and uses some of the greatest pop rock hits of the late 20th century. Directed and choregraphed by Brian Finnerty, with help from stage manager Matt Neier, musical direction by Michelle Kasanofsky, costume design by David Walker, lighting design by Ethan Vail and set design by Ken Junkins, this uplifting comedy is sure to touch your heart!
