Two Ringling Curators Selected to Present at International Circus Market Contact Name: Virginia Harshman Contact Email: virginia.harshman@ringling.org Contact Phone Number: 9413595700 Sarasota, Florida- Two curators from the John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art have been selected as presenters at the Montréal Complètement Cirque Festival’s International Market of Contemporary Circus (MICC). Jennifer Lemmer-Posey, Tibbals Curator of Circus and Elizabeth Doud, Currie-Kohlman Curator of Performance will be presenting to an international audience next week, via online technology. The Festival and the Market are coordinated under the auspices of TOHU, the physical and programmatic hub of Montréal’s circus community. While the Complètement Cirque Festival offers a wide variety of contemporary circus arts performances across the city, MICC was founded as a means to bring together the artists and producers. Their goal is to support and promote the development of circus arts on the international scene. The event includes performances, workshops and other opportunities. Restrictions related to COVID-19 have obviously made the physical gathering an impossibility for this year, so Ruth Wikler, Deputy Director of Programming for the festival and her team have adapted an online series of events. Elizabeth Doud will be presenting as part of the North American Working Group discussing issues around presenting contemporary circus arts and Jennifer Lemmer-Posey will be presenting as part of a workshop comprised of international circus scholars titled, “Deepening Your Circus Knowledge” through object and oral history collections. The sessions are available to all members of the MICC community and it is currently free to become a member.
