JFCS PROVIDES DRIVE-THROUGH HOLIDAY MEALS More than 70 clients receive Thanksgiving dinners for four Contact Name: Karen Pharo Contact Email: kpharo@jfcs-cares.org Contact Phone Number: 941-366-2224 ext. 143 (SARASOTA, FL – November 23, 2020) – During the current pandemic, the demand for food by families suffering from unemployment and other economic hardships is at an all-time high. As the winter holiday season begins, JFCS of the Suncoast is ensuring that clients can at least enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal. JFCS staff members passed out Thanksgiving meal kits to many of the agency’s clients on the afternoon of Thursday, November 19. To keep everyone safe, masked agency representatives loaded meal kits into cars as recipients drove through the JFCS parking lot. Clients were thrilled with the meals, especially the large turkey. “Oh, yay! Enough for turkey sandwiches the day after! I love turkey sandwiches!” “We are so grateful to you for making sure we could celebrate Thanksgiving this year! Thank you, JFCS!” Each holiday meal kit, obtained by JFCS through a partnership with All Faiths Food Bank, contained a twenty-pound turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing mix, green beans, and cranberry sauce. Thanks to a generous donation by Detweiler’s Farm Market, JFCS was able to add fresh sweet potatoes to every family’s package. “Caring for our clients and for the entire community is at the heart of JFCS’s mission,” says Arthur Lerman, JFCS Interim President/CEO. “Seeing how delighted and grateful these families are to receive a meal so they can celebrate Thanksgiving when things have been so tough this year is incredibly fulfilling for our staff. JFCS of the Suncoast is honored to be able to make a difference in people’s lives.” About JFCS: Inspired by the Jewish tradition of helping all people, Jewish Family & Children Services of the Suncoast provides counseling, personal support, and financial assistance to youth, adults, families, veterans, seniors and individuals who are homeless in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, and Lee Counties.
