THE ASSOCIATION OF FUNDRAISING PROFESSIONALS SOUTHWEST FLORIDA CHAPTER ANNOUNCES ITS MARCH 2021 PROGRAM Contact Name: Terri Medina Contact Email: terri.medina@lighthouseeducationcenter.org Contact Phone Number: 941-359-1404 SARASOTA, Fla. – March 2, 2021 – The Southwest Florida Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP-SWFL), one of the most active chapters of professional fundraisers in the nation, offering members the opportunity to connect with colleagues, engage in creative thinking, network with new friends and achieve great results in their work, presents Building and Cultivating an Effective, Diverse, & Inclusive Board on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 12:00 pm via Zoom. Please join AFP and our esteemed speaker, Mr. Jim Taylor, Vice President of Leadership Initiatives at BoardSource, as he discusses how the issue of racial inequity has become the focus of a national conversation in our country over the past year. Nonprofit leaders play a unique role in bridging societal divides and brokering solutions, so it is essential that they are operating at their best – a responsibility which requires everyone to be diverse in our board compositions, inclusive in our board cultures and equity-focused in how our boards see our work (and the world). In this session Jim will discuss the importance of this work to our missions, current national data on nonprofit board diversity, and key steps boards can take (regardless of where they are in their racial equity journeys) to become more impactful through a greater commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Mr. Taylor will also share links to tools and resources that boards may utilize for further advancement of their racial equity work. "Jim Taylor is a dynamic presenter and a leading expert not just in creating diverse and equitable governing boards at nonprofit organizations, but in the profound effect that doing so can have on the entire organization," said Tracy Vanderneck, AFP SWFL Chapter President. All nonprofit leaders and board members are encouraged to register for this dynamic virtual program at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/building-and-cultivating-an-effective-board-tickets-142750676115 Cost: $15 for AFP members, $25 for nonmembers ### About AFP Southwest Florida: AFP is an individual membership association advancing philanthropy through education, training and advocacy based on research, a code of ethical principles and standards of professional practice.
