While we are saddened by her departure, we are confident in the role and commitment she will bring to her new school. Dr. Rodriguez’s tireless dedication to our SMA students and the entire SMA family has led to numerous accomplishments and firsts at Sarasota Military Academy—from re-envisioning student services to developing equitable academic initiatives. Parents of SMA students have joined in expressing their appreciation for the influence Dr. Rodriguez has had on their teenager’s educational journey. “Dr. Rodriguez brought a personal touch to every aspect of her role at Sarasota Military Academy. She created a space for all students to connect and share their social emotional growth. In particular, she was instrumental in maintaining the educational and emotional connection with my daughter, Regimental Commander Abigail Koester, during her study abroad experience in Denmark. We are very grateful for Dr. Rodriquez's impact on all of our students,” commented current SMA parent, Heather Koester. “Dr. Cathy touched our lives in many ways, and she not only gave her heart and soul to my two children when they needed it most, but she was our guide in this new country,” remarked Sandra Lorena Restrepo, former SMA parent. While a search is currently underway for the assistant head of school position, SMA will ensure the continuity of services for our cadets and families. “Dr. Cathy Rodriguez has been an invaluable member of the SMA Administrative Team for the past three years. Her contributions and impact will continue to resonate into SMA’s future,” said SMA Head of School Frederick T. Fout.
