Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s Receives Community Grant from The Parkinson’s Foundation Contact Name: Traci Willingham Contact Email: traci@neurochallenge.org Contact Phone Number: 9419266413 (SARASOTA, FL) – The Parkinson's Foundation selected Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s (NCF) as a 2021-22 community grant recipient to support local health, wellness and educational programs that address unmet needs in the Parkinson's disease (PD) community. This year's grant cycle focused on programs that provide a service for underserved PD communities and initiatives that reach those newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s or those who are just beginning their Parkinson’s journey. There are approximately 12,000 people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in the communities served by Neuro Challenge Foundation, and for every person diagnosed there is a caregiver or family member who also needs support. “The initiatives and growth of Neuro Challenge are possible due in part to continued partnership with Parkinson’s Foundation which helps provide essential service to the local Parkinson’s community today,” said Dr. Sara Grivetti, CEO of Neuro Challenge Foundation for Parkinson’s. "We are deeply honored to have been awarded a Parkinson's Foundation grant and are very excited at the opportunity to join current recipients in improving the quality of life of people with Parkinson's and their caregivers today," said Dr. Grivetti. "Thanks to the Parkinson's Foundation, we look forward to expanding the impactful “PD 101” initiative to reach those newly diagnosed with PD and their caregivers throughout the six-county region served by Neuro Challenge. This grant will also allow NCF to continue vital work in the underserved community of Highlands County.” About the Parkinson's Foundation: The Parkinson's Foundation makes life better for people with PD by improving care and advancing research toward a cure. It is associated with a progressive loss of motor control (e.g., shaking or tremor at rest and lack of facial expression), as well as non-motor symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety). There is no cure for Parkinson's and 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year in the United States alone.
