SARASOTA, Fla. – July 23, 2021 – Lighthouse Vision Loss Education Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that educates and empowers those affected by vision loss in Sarasota, Manatee, Charlotte, DeSoto and Highlands Counties, is pleased to announce the selection of three new candidates to its Board of Directors. These new directors will provide strategic direction for continued growth around Lighthouse’s mission – to educate and empower those affected by vision loss so they may enjoy happy, healthy and independent lives.
Alex Elman Foley - Elman Foley is originally from Manhattan and lost her vision at the age of 27 due to retinitis pigmentosa. Alex has been a client in Lighthouse’s Vocational Rehabilitation Program taking Assistive Technology classes. She is also the Managing Director of Wholey Foley, LLC, a management consulting firm. Alex lives in Sarasota and speaks Spanish, Portuguese, French and Italian.
Christopher Enger - Enger is a second generation Floridian and a financial advisor with Baird Private Wealth Management. Chris earned an MBA with a dual concentration in Finance and Management from Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business. While attending Rollins he was awarded the Dr. Edward Moses Distinguished Finance Award. He also earned an BSBA in Management Information Systems from Central Florida University. Chris has been in the financial services industry for seven years and lives in Sarasota with his wife Katie.
Gina Bodden - Bodden is the mother of 18-year old daughter, Brianna, who is visually impaired, home schooled and is very active in our Young Adults Program. Gina has two older children and lives in Punta Gorda with her husband, who recently retired after selling his business in the insurance industry. She helps in her parents’ flower shop in Port Charlotte and speaks both French and Haitian Creole.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Alex, Chris and Gina to the Lighthouse Board of Directors,” said Angela Abrams, Board Chair. “Each one of them will provide the Lighthouse with a unique background and perspective and we look forward to their expertise and guidance this year.”
