A passionate and progressive community leader for over 25 years, Ron has served in senior leadership and consulting roles where he has devised and implemented strategies that have increased charitable giving for mission-driven organizations. “I am so excited to make Sarasota my new home and work with an organization that does so much for the people in this region,” stated Ron Katz. In his new role, Ron will collaborate with JFCS President/CEO Arthur Lerman to enhance the agency’s financial sustainability through the implementation of an annual fundraising plan and donor cultivation and stewardship. “Ron is the right person at the right time for JFCS,” stated Lerman. “His experience, creativity and commitment to the JFCS mission are outstanding. I am excited to be working with him for the good of JFCS and our community.” Prior to joining JFCS, Ron served as the Director of Advancement & External Affairs at the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Connecticut. In this role, he increased institutional support for the Museum among constituencies, volunteers, longstanding members and women aviators. While serving in additional leadership roles, Ron led a $44 million capital campaign for the design and construction of a new science center. Also, within two years, he garnered over $500,000 in financial support for educational robotics programs in the United States and cultivated international sponsor partnerships in the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Australia. Lastly, Mr. Katz launched comprehensive post-opening development and membership programs and successfully raised $2 million annually. Ron’s passion for helping others extends beyond the workplace. He is a former legacy council member for MakerSpaceCT (Hartford, Connecticut), a former director at The Lyme Ambulance Association, Inc. (Lyme, Connecticut), a former director at The Children’s Trust Fund of Connecticut (Hartford, Connecticut) and a former board chair for the Connecticut Coalition to Stop Underage Drinking. Ron holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Connecticut School of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship. In his free time, Mr. Katz enjoys hiking, exploring, dining out and playing tennis.
