Gulf Coast Community Foundation Awards The Venice Symphony Arts Appreciation Grant Contact Name: Sharyn Lonsdale Contact Email: slonsdale@thevenicesymphony.org Contact Phone Number: 941-207-8822 Gulf Coast Community Foundation (GCCF) has awarded The Venice Symphony a $40,000 Arts Appreciation Grant to provide core support for its 2022-23 concert season. This grant will help fund the full concert season at the Venice Performing Arts Center, premiering with Tchaik Strikes! on November 18. The grant also supports the Symphony’s fundraiser for music education, Baroque, Brunch and Bubbly on November 13, 2022. “Gulf Coast Community Foundation has never wavered in its support of the arts and The Venice Symphony,” said President and CEO Christine Kasten. “This grant allows us to bring the highest caliber of musicians to our orchestra and world-renowned guest artists to Venice. The support GCCF provides to our fundraising brunch is also crucial as the Symphony expands our music education programs to reach more students throughout South Sarasota County." “Gulf Coast Community Foundation is honored to support The Venice Symphony and their amazing work. The majority of this Arts Appreciation Grant is funded from the John and Mary Doherty Charitable Fund. Mary opened the fund after her husband’s passing. He was a life-long music lover and she created this fund so that he would be forever remembered. After Mary passed away in 2012, the first grant from this fund was made in 2013. The money has gone to the Venice Symphony for ten years since the fund was established and they have received a total of $203,699 from this fund,” said Kirstin Fulkerson, Senior Vice President for Philanthropy at Gulf Coast Community Foundation. Founded in 1974, The Venice Symphony is a 501(c)(3) professional orchestra deeply rooted in its community, offering a variety of concerts from November through May, special events and long-standing music education programs for all ages throughout the year. The orchestra is led by Music Director/Conductor Troy Quinn. Learn more at thevenicesymphony.org.
