Featured Speaker: Mayor Debbie Trice

Debbie Trice is a New York City native. She earned her MBA from NYU while working as a sales rep for IBM with large Wall Street banks as her clients. A few years after an IBM move landed her in a small city in California, she left her career in marketing and management to launch an entrepreneurial venture in publishing. This helped her build relationships with local small businesses as peers, vendors and clients.

Debbie moved to Sarasota full-time in 1997. She views Sarasota as offering the best of both of her previous homes: big city amenities and a small town feel. She joined the Sarasota City Commission in 2022 with the primary objective of effectively addressing the need for affordable housing for a full range of residents, including entry-level young professionals.

Debbie’s approach to her job as City Commissioner is to blend her fiscally-responsible business perspective with her concern for the needs of all our residents while maintaining a goal of moving Sarasota towards its best future.
