Job Summary

The Online Learning Coordinator, reporting to the Director of CTLE and Online Learning, supports faculty in instructional design, digital accessibility, and faculty development for online, blended, and technology-enhanced courses. This role trains faculty in best practices for course design and delivery, as well as instructional technology, including effective use of the learning management system (LMS). Additionally, the Coordinator evaluates online courses to ensure quality, accessibility compliance, and alignment with best practices, enhancing student engagement and success across all teaching modalities. The Coordinator also serves as a backup resource for LMS administration and support functions as needed to ensure continuity of operations and faculty support.

Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:

• Supports all faculty in designing, developing, and enhancing online, blended, and technology-enhanced courses to align with best practices in instructional design, accessibility, and student engagement.
• Coordinates and facilitates onboarding and training for new faculty to support effective use of the learning management system (LMS) and other instructional technologies, equipping faculty with the knowledge and skills needed to support quality online teaching and learning experiences.
• Provides training, workshops, and consultations on instructional strategies and instructional technologies across modalities, with an emphasis on online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.
• Provides guidance on effectively using the learning management system (LMS) and other instructional technologies to optimize student engagement and learning outcomes.
• Guides faculty in implementing digital accessibility standards to ensure compliance with legal requirements (e.g., WCAG, ADA, Section 508) and best practices.
• Evaluates courses for instructional quality, accessibility compliance, and adherence to institutional and national design standards.
• Researches and recommends emerging instructional technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance teaching and learning experiences across all modalities.
• Provides support and training for faculty on the effective use of generative AI in teaching and learning, including best practices for integration, ethical considerations, and strategies for enhancing student engagement and academic integrity.
• Helps assess the effectiveness of departmental initiatives related to faculty development, online learning, and instructional technology to drive continuous improvement.
• Serves as a backup resource for learning management system (LMS) administration and support functions as needed, assisting with troubleshooting, system support, user guidance, and continuity of online learning operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

• Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional technology, education, or a related field, and two years of experience integrating technology into the teaching/learning process, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with learning management systems (LMS) is required, with Canvas LMS preferred. Experience with WCAG 2.1, ADA, Section 508 compliance, and accessibility evaluation tools preferred. Quality Matters and/or OLC certification is valued.

• Supervisory Experience:
One or more years of experience as a "lead" employee, with responsibility for scheduling and assigning work, training new employees, and assisting others with problems, is required.

• Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional/scientific journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

• Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform calculations on standard measures of American currency and weight, volume, and distance.

• Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to work with formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.

• Computer Skills:
Intermediate knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and e-mail. Additional knowledge of discipline specific software. Must be proficient in current college e-mail, databases and other college required software. Must remain current with technology changes.

Routine contact with students, faculty, and instructional administrative staff; frequent contact with other State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota administrative and support departments.

Occasional contact with software vendors, contacts at other educational institutions, and professional organizations in the field.
