Job Summary
The Head Coach will maintain and /or enhance every aspect of the men's and women's cross-country programs as part of the mission of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.
The Head Coach position is a part time as needed stipend position and will be paid at a rate of up to $15,000 annually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:
• The Head Coach is expected to play a positive role in the leadership of students-athlete and teams.
• The Head Coach is expected to conduct himself/herself in a professional manner being a positive role model for his/her players, and will ensure assistant coaches and players conduct themselves in a professional manner abiding by the SCF, FCSAA and NJCAA Code of Conduct.
• The Head Coach will be responsible for knowing and abiding by all SCF, FCSAA and NJCAA policies and procedures, and is expected to loyally support all policies, procedures and decisions/interpretations rendered by these agencies.
• The Head Coach will be responsible for coaching, recruitment and selection of student-athletes, budgeting, scheduling of games, promotions, participation in state and national polls, input of statistics in a timely fashion, and public relations both on-campus and in the college district.
• Supports cross-country athletes in securing housing for the academic year, including coordinating roommate arrangements when needed.
• The Head Coach is responsible for the academic tracking, class attendance, graduation rates, matriculation rates and four-year scholarship rates for all student-athletes.
• The Head Coach is responsible for participating in fund-raising projects to support the cross-country programs and the intercollegiate athletics program.
• The Head Coach will participate in non-athletic related college functions, as requested by the Director.
• Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications

• Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required, minimum of 2 years of related coaching experience at high school level or higher; or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Supervisory Experience:
Supervisory experience is not required.
• Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform calculations on standard measures of American currency and weight, volume, and distance.
• Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram/chart form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete changes in standardized situations.
• Computer Skills:
Banner applications including finance and registration modules, Outlook, Excel, Word and some statistical applications (per sport).
• Certificates and Licenses:
Possession of, or eligible to obtain, a valid Florida Driver's license and the ability to travel independently.
Responsibility for People and Property:
Care and maintenance of sport equipment and facility.
Responsibility for Communication:
• Internal Contacts:
Position has routine contact with SCF staff, administration, faculty and students.
• External Contacts:
Position has frequent contact with general public, including prospective students, vendors, community members, and other athletic agencies or institutions.

• Environment will vary depending on which sport.
• The noise level is based on interaction with people at practices, games, and events, but moderate to loud would be appropriate.
