Job Summary


The Manager, Financial Aid Student Services & Communications provides leadership and oversight for all student-facing Financial Aid operations and communication strategies across multiple campuses. This position supervises Financial Aid Assistants, ensuresregulatory compliance, oversees Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) processes, and leads the development and dissemination of student communications. The Manager serves as the Director's designee for student-service-related matters, supports strategic planning efforts, and contributes to overall Financial Aid leadership and service excellence.

Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all of the following duties:


• Oversees veteran-related financial aid and VA education benefit operations across campuses.

• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations, policies, and reporting requirements.

• Maintains and updates policies and procedures related to financial aid and veterans' education benefits.

• Serves as a backup School Certifying Official (SCO) to ensure operational continuity.

• Leads audit preparation and documentation for annual VA compliance reviews.

• Serves as the institutional liaison to the Department of Veterans Affairs, State Approving Agency, and external partners.

• Serves as the supervisor of record for Veteran Services Advisors, providing guidance, coaching, and high-level support.

• Assists Financial Aid staff and Veteran Services Advisors with complex cases, escalated student concerns, and regulatory interpretation as needed.

• Coordinates financial aid outreach efforts, including FAFSA completion support for high schools and community partners.

• Builds and maintains year-round relationships with district counselors and college readiness coordinators.

• Works closely with Admissions, Advising, Registrar, and other campus partners, as well as external agencies, to support student success.

• Strengthens partnerships with military organizations, community groups, and employers.

• Provides training to staff regarding veteran benefits, regulatory changes, and compliance expectations.

• Develops onboarding materials and ongoing professional development resources for Veteran Services Advisors.

• Monitors certification activity, accuracy rates, and documentation to ensure audit readiness.

• Prepares reports, dashboards, and compliance summaries for internal leadership.

• Analyzes trends and recommends improvements to operational efficiencies, outreach processes, and student support strategies.

• Supports SCF's financial literacy programming for students.

• Coordinates workshops and develops materials to help students understand financial aid, budgeting, and benefit usage.

• Participates on committees, task forces, and cross-functional groups across the institution.

• Cross-trains with Financial Aid and Veteran Services teams to ensure operational continuity and resilience.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications


The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Education/Experience:


Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of experience in financial aid, veterans' services, higher education administration, regulatory compliance, or arelated fieldrequired, or an equivalent combination of education and experienceisrequired.


Experience serving as a School Certifying Official (SCO)


• Supervisory Experience:

Two (2) years of supervisory or lead experience preferred.


• Language Ability:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,

technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business

correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and

respond to questions from clients, customers and the general public. Excellent English

listening and speaking skills required. Spanish language proficiency is an asset.


• Math Ability:

Ability to calculate add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common

fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform calculations on standard measures of American

currency and weight, volume, and distance.


• Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations

where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions

furnished in written, oral diagram/chart or schedule form.


• Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of word

processing, database and email software. Proficiency with the College's current database

software is essential within one month of hiring date.


• Certificates and Licenses:

No certifications needed.


Responsibility for People and Property:

This position is responsible for mail that includes cash, checks and credit card information.


Responsibility for Communication:

This position has routine contact with SCF students and staff.


• External Contacts:


This position has routine contact with prospective students and their families, high school

personnel, and the general public.
