Job Summary


The Manager of the IT/Coding Academy is responsible for the strategic implementation, operational oversight, and continuous improvement of non-credit technology-based training programs under the Advanced Technology Center (ATC). This position develops and manages instructional programs in coding, software development, information technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and related fields. The Manager aligns curriculum with industry certifications and workforce needs, manages instructors and program logistics, and builds partnerships with local employers and technology organizations.


In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Manager will teach 2-3 non-credit or credential-focused courses per semester for the Advanced Technology Center.


The Manager supports the mission of the ATC by ensuring that the Coding Academy serves as a hub for innovation, stackable credential attainment, and career readiness, with a strong emphasis on access and economic mobility for students.

Applicants may be asked to demonstrate any or all the following duties:


• 1.Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT/Coding Academy, including scheduling, instructor management, and program delivery.

• Collaborate with industry partners to ensure programs align with current and emerging technology workforce needs.

• Develop and maintain curriculum that supports certification and employment outcomes in IT and coding fields.

• Teach 2-3 non-credit or credential-focused courses per semester in one or more designated subject areas aligned with current workforce needs.

• Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate instructors and program staff.

• Use data to monitor program success, including enrollment, completion, certification rates, and employment outcomes.

• Collaborate with the marketing and outreach team to promote programs and recruit a diverse student population.

• Support grant writing and reporting activities related to the Coding Academy.

• Coordinate student support services, including registration, advising, and scholarship application support.

• Work closely with K-12, higher education, and workforce partners to create pathway opportunities.

• Ensure compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies for non-credit workforce education.

• Promote and support the use of emerging technologies, learning management systems, and digital platforms.

• Facilitate the use of the Emerging Technology Lab for student innovation and experiential learning.

• Performs other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications

Education/Experience:


Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field required or the equivalent combination of education and experience; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT, workforce education, or training environments, preferably in a college or nonprofit setting. Professional certifications or teaching experience in at least one of the designated subject areas required.

In addition to administrative responsibilities, the Manager will teach 2-3 courses per semester in one or more of the following areas:

• AWS AI Practitioner

• Python Coding Specialist

• WordPress Certified Editor

• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)

• Microsoft CoPilot and Power Platform (AI/Automation Tech)


Supervisory Experience:


One to two years of direct supervisory experience, including responsibility for hiring, firing, performance management, training and coaching is preferred.


Language Ability:


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


Math Ability:


Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to compile and organize documents. Ability to multi-task and function as part of a team. Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in a deadline-driven office.


Computer Skills:


Proficiency in one or more of the following areas is strongly preferred: Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, SQL, cloud platforms (AWS), AI tools, CompTIA certification content, Cisco technologies, or Microsoft Power Platform. Familiarity with digital learning environments and workforce credential systems required.


Certificates and Licenses:


Valid Florida driver's license.

Responsibility for People and Property:

Responsible for supervising instructors and managing student records, technology equipment, and instructional materials. Manages assigned budgets, schedules, and compliance procedures.

This position has routine contact with all levels of college faculty, staff, students and administrators.

External Contacts:


This position has routine interaction with external contacts such as accrediting agencies, government or other academic institutions, student and/or employment applicants, vendors, and the general public, depending on employing unit.
