Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties to Announce 2026 Youth of the Year at Annual Celebration March 6
Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties will honor the outstanding achievements of its teen members at the 2026 Youth of the Year Celebration on Friday, March 6, 2026, at the Lee Wetherington Boys & Girls Club, 3100 Fruitville Road in Sarasota. Guests will dust off their boots for this western-casual celebration for a night of inspiring stories while witnessing the announcement of the 2026 Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties Youth of the Year.
Established by Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 1947, the Youth of the Year program recognizes Club members who demonstrate exceptional leadership and service, academic excellence, and a commitment to making their community a better place. Local winners advance to state, regional, and national competitions, with the national Youth of the Year serving as an ambassador for more than four million Club members nationwide.
“This event doesn’t just celebrate one outstanding teen, but the accomplishments of all our Club members that lead with passion and care,” said Bill Sadlo, President/CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. “Six remarkable young leaders will be recognized as Youth of the Year finalists; we are honored to stand behind them and celebrate their impact.”
Since 2012, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties has proudly celebrated six Florida Youth of the Year winners, three state runners-up, three Southeast Youth of the Year winners, one regional runner-up, and one National Youth of the Year.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by the official Youth of the Year Celebration. Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased online at bgcsdc.org/events. Proceeds from the event will directly support Boys & Girls Clubs of Sarasota and DeSoto Counties members, ensuring they have access to programs that foster academic achievement, leadership development, and career readiness.
