Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Donors Raise $1 Million for the Child Protection Center’s Expansion

The Child Protection Center, Inc. (CPC) is proud to announce the successful completion of a $500,000 challenge match issued by Gulf Coast Community Foundation and their donors to advance the expansion of CPC’s Keith D. Monda Family Campus of Healing in North Port.

CPC serves as the only nonprofit solely dedicated to the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse in Sarasota and DeSoto Counties. Gulf Coast Community Foundation launched the match to raise awareness and support to meet the heightened demand for child abuse services as the population continues to grow in South Sarasota County. This matched giving opportunity has brought CPC $1 million closer to its $10 million campaign goal, advancing the total raised to $7.1 million.

The expansion of the Monda Campus will feature construction of a 7,000 square foot facility, expanding capacity for prevention education, critical interventions and medical assessments, as well as highly specialized, trauma-informed therapy. The building plans are being designed specifically to support healing and safety for children and families in crisis.

“This challenge match is more than a fundraising milestone, it’s a reflection of what this community will do for its children,” said Douglas Staley, Executive Director of CPC. “Because of Gulf Coast’s partnership and the generosity they inspired, more children in South County will have access to compassionate, specialized care close to home and a safe place to begin their healing.”

“Bringing donors and community partners together to meet our community’s greatest needs is at the heart of Gulf Coast’s work,” said Sasha Pyatte, Director, Donor Partnerships for Gulf Coast Community Foundation. “It’s an honor to work alongside so many generous supporters to help create a place where children and families can find healing, care, and hope in south Sarasota County.”
