Gulf Coast Community Foundation Awards $25,000 Grant to Resurrection House for Meal Program Supporting Sarasota's Homeless
Sarasota, FL – January 13, 2026 – Resurrection House, a faith-based day center for the homeless serving Sarasota County, has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation (Gulf Coast). This funding will support the organization's Meal Program, which provides nutritious breakfast and hot lunch to 60-80 individuals experiencing homelessness each weekday.
Resurrection House, a faith-based homeless day center located in downtown Sarasota, serves 60-80 homeless individuals daily with breakfast and hot lunch. Guided by its mission to provide a safe haven, restore dignity, and foster self-sufficiency, the organization addresses the urgent needs of Sarasota's homeless population. By providing consistent, nutritious meals, Resurrection House not only alleviates hunger but also offers a beacon of hope and dignity to those living on Sarasota's streets, aligning with its faith-based commitment to serve the most vulnerable and foster community resilience.
"We are deeply grateful to the Gulf Coast Community Foundation for this generous grant," said Joe Reuth, Executive Director of Resurrection House. "This funding ensures we can continue providing breakfast and lunch to every homeless client who walks through our doors, offering nutritional support, emotional stability, and a foundation for long-term stability in challenging times."
“Gulf Coast’s Area of Greatest Need Fund allows donors to respond to the most urgent needs in our community, from providing access to nutritious food to supporting neighbors when circumstances change,” said Erin Minor, Gulf Coast’s Vice President of Community Leadership. “By working alongside nonprofit partners who share this commitment, donors can trust Gulf Coast to thoughtfully steward their dollars through the Area of Greatest Need Fund in ways that best reflect their intentions and serve our community.”
