Local music school Music Compound is – once again – offering its Music Summer Camp, which runs from June 1 through July 31, at its location in Sarasota (775 Bell Rd., Sarasota). Participants will enjoy a wide range of activities, from learning various instruments to enjoying group live performance opportunities.

Students in grades 1-12 are welcome; the camps are divided by age. Families can choose from full (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or half-day (9 a.m.-noon OR 1-4 p.m.) options. 

The Music Compound summer camp has been voted as one of the top-rated summer camps in our area. And every week ends with a performance for family and friends to enjoy.

Some of the sessions offered for grades 1-5 will include “Intro to Music,” “Kidz Rock Band,” “Keys to Piano,” “Musical Theater,” “Drum Circle” and “Strings & Things” (guitar, bass and ukulele). For students in grades 6-12, the sessions include “Modern Band,” “Improvisation on Keys,” “Drum Fills & Solos,” “DJ & Music Production,” “Jazz Band,” “Classic Rock Band,” “Modern Garage Band,” “Drum Solo & Creativity,” “Strings & Things” and “Songwriting.”

The offerings for the older students provide opportunities for more advanced and more serious players, including “Songwriting” and “Vocal Performance,” to help bolster skills and confidence. The 6-12th grade camp also presents band opportunities in several musical genres.

Full-day campers get a full hour for lunch, also comprising outdoor play and a mindfulness session, which might include yoga, meditation and reading.

Junior camps are $200 and senior camps are $225 per half-day session; registration fee is $50. Full-day options are available as well. Early drop-off and late pick-up are available for an additional fee. Snacks are provided in the morning and afternoon; children are responsible for bringing their own lunch.
