Community Generosity Fuels Transformative Campus Growth and Student Opportunities

SARASOTA, FL – The New College of Florida Foundation proudly announces significant achievements in fundraising and community engagement during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Thanks to the remarkable generosity of its donors, alumni, and community partners, the Foundation has secured almost $6 million in transformative investments that directly support the growth and excellence of Florida’s public honors college. This is a 100 % increase over the past year.

Highlights from the 2024-2025 fiscal year include:

• $2.5 million gift from the DSF Charitable Foundation, led by David and Sara Scaife, to establish a new Contemplation & Education Center on Sarasota Bay. This innovative facility will serve as a dynamic venue for interfaith ceremonies, academic lectures, Socratic dialogues, and community events—becoming a revenue-generating centerpiece for the College.

• $1 million gift from Carlos and Janelle Beruff, resulting in the naming of the Beruff Family Field of Dreams, New College’s first-ever on-campus baseball field, significantly advancing the development of the College’s athletics program.

• $500,000 pledge fulfillment from Pat and Charlene Neal, long-standing supporters whose generosity continues to enrich student experiences and promote institutional advancement.

• Continued robust growth in scholarships, faculty innovation, campus enhancements, and alumni participation, leading to more than a 40% increase in scholarship allocations and record-breaking donor engagement.

“This extraordinary year has underscored how deeply our community believes in the transformative power of education and innovation at New College,” stated Richard Corcoran, President of New College of Florida. “We are immensely grateful for their steadfast support, which enables us to cultivate intellectual freedom and academic excellence.”

Looking Ahead:

  • Contemplation & Education Center: Pending Board approval, expect groundbreaking in late 2025.
  • Beruff Family Field of Dreams: Construction plans underway for our inaugural baseball stadium.
  • New Campaign Launch: Set for fall 2025, the upcoming campaign will build on this momentum—expanding student support, strengthening faculty excellence, and enriching campus life.

Sydney Gruters, Executive Director of the New College Foundation, added, “We are incredibly proud of the strides we've made this year, yet we have even bigger plans for the year ahead. Our upcoming advancement initiatives promise to further elevate our institution and expand opportunities for our students and faculty alike.”

The Foundation is set to launch a major fundraising campaign this fall, building on recent successes and focusing on further expansion of scholarships, programmatic enhancements, and infrastructure improvements.
